Virtual meetings of Faith in the Climate
Faith in the Climate is holding online meetings about the pandemic, faith and the climate crisis, with religious representatives and scientific researchers
On April 22, the Institute of Religious Studies (ISER) held the first live online meeting of Faith in the Climate, with support from iCS. Clemir Fernandes, a researcher at ISER, mediated the debate on “Earth, climate and hope in the times of a pandemic,” with the pastor Silvia Geruza, from the Betesda Church (SP), and Fábio Scarano, a researcher in the climate area and professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).Watch the meeting here.
The conversation continued on April 30, this time with Cecilia Polacow Herzog, an urban landscape designer, a specialist in nature-based solutions and professor at PUC-Rio, and Dom Mauro Morelli, bishop emeritus of the Catholic Diocese of Duque de Caxias (RJ). The discussion about “Faith, climate crisis and pandemic: relationships and perspectives” was mediated by Moema Salgado, coordinator of the Faith in the Climate initiative, from ISER, and was recorded and is available in its entirety.
On May 7, pastor Ariovaldo Ramos, coordinator of the Front of Evangelicals for the Rule of Law, and Rachel Biderman, director of the Worlds Resources Institute (WRI Brasil), exchanged experiences about “Pandemic, faith and socio-biodiversity: steps towards new ways of life,” with the mediation of Maria Rita Vilella, an anthropologist, researcher and professor.
