Trapped Crossing Campaign

The Instituto Corrida Amiga mapped 117 pedestrian crossings with traffic lights and guarantees: the time required to cross safely is much longer

The Instituto Corrida Amiga, in partnership with local organizers, developed the Trapped Crossing campaign, with the objective of demonstrating that, in Brazilian cities, the short time of the traffic lights for pedestrian crossing does not guarantee the safety of people on the streets, especially children and older people. In all, 117 crossings were mapped in 14 Brazilian cities, and the complete study is being sent to the local agencies. The CET of São Paulo received the raw data and has already fixed the times at three locations mapped in the campaign. The ultimate goal is to mobilize the population about the importance of guaranteeing safe and appropriate traffic signal times to pedestrians. See the complete report in Portuguese.
