Paraná now requires a climate calculation in its licensing
After a recommendation by the Prosecution Office, the assessment must observe the matrix of impacts and damages in the Environmental Impact Studies
The Instituto Água e Terra (IAT), which is the public environmental agency of the state of Paraná, will now require the observance of a matrix of climate impacts and damages in the Environmental Impact Studies (EIA), due to the administrative recommendation of the local Prosecution Office. All undertakings and activities with a potential to cause significant degradation in the environment will be affected. From now on, the IAT makes this requirement in the phases of planning, installation, operation and deactivation of undertakings. The ordinance will serve not only for the analysis of the environmental, locational and technological viability, but also for the establishment of mitigating and compensatory measures.
