MapBiomas Award announces the winners



On May 2, the winners of the #premiomapbiomas will be celebrated with lectures and debates, as well as the delivery of their awards: with amounts that ​​range from R$ 3,000.00 to R$ 10,000.00. This was a joint initiative of the network of institutions that compose MapBiomas, namely IEMA, Instituto Escolhas and iCS.


The 1st edition of the award sought studies about the relationship between the infrastructure of energy and transport and the dynamics of alterations in the coverage and use of land in Brazil. There were over 30 registered studies from 11 Brazilian states and from Germany. In the General category, the winner was the project Applied Geographical Intelligence in the Evaluation of the Environmental Impacts of Energy Transmission Systems, by Felipe Nabuco, from Ibama. In the Youth category, Douglas Cirino, from the UFABC, took the top prize with the subject "Why did the crab-eating fox cross the road? Characteristics of the landscape associated with the mortality by road kill of the Cerdocyon thous."
