Indigenous emergency

The Organization of the Indigenous Peoples of Brazil has launched, with partners, the Indigenous Emergency Front, which monitors the impact of the pandemic on indigenous peoples and develops strategies to combat it

The Indigenous Emergency Front, launched by the Organization of the Indigenous Peoples of Brazil (APIB) in partnership with other organizations, structures plans, projects and actions to monitor and analyze the impact of coronavirus on indigenous peoples. It is also providing inputs and developing strategies to combat it, safeguarding the memory and knowledge threatened by the deaths of indigenous peoples. On August 5, the Federal Supreme Court unanimously decided to maintain the measures to protect indigenous peoples during the pandemic, following a lawsuit filed by APIB against the vetoes of President Jair Bolsonaro in the law to protect indigenous peoples against COVID-19.
