Countries sign agreements to zero deforestation by 2030 and promote sustainable development, recognizing the role of traditional peoples and communities.


In all, 141 countries signed the Glasgow Declaration on Forests and Land Use during COP 26, including Brazil – despite the growing rates of deforestation in the Amazon. In the text, the nations undertake to “commit to working collectively to halt and reverse forest loss and land degradation by 2030,” while delivering sustainable development and promoting an inclusive rural transformation, recognizing the role of traditional peoples and communities.
