Boa Vista and its climate-based inequalities

Sixth survey of the Urban Legal Amazon project analyzes the socio-spatial aspects of climate change in the capital of Roraima. Cuiabá, Porto Velho and Palmas are the next cities due to be studied

Ethnic, racial and gender inequalities were observed in Boa Vista, Roraima, “in the inadequate access to sewage sanitation systems, considering the significant number of users of rudimentary septic tanks and the disposal of waste into the sea, river and lakes, with indigenous women (50.15%) and black women (45.61%) being those with the least access to this basic service.” This is one of the findings of the sixth survey carried out by the Urban Legal Amazon Project – Socio-Spatial Analysis of Climate Change. In this second phase, in addition to the capital of Roraima, the cities of Cuiabá, Porto Velho and Palmas will also be studied, achieving, in two years of research, the nine capitals of the Amazon territory.
