The new portfolio of Land Use and Food Systems has the objective of promoting actions and incentives for more sustainable land use, for the improvement of forest management, and for the reduction of the environmental impacts of agriculture and food.

2020

O Mundo Que Queremos


PORTFOLIO - Land Use and Food systems Period - 12 months Purpose of the grant: To access the perception of political leaderships, entrepreneurs and general population of amazonian municipalities about the effects of deforestation, the knowledge about the forest economy agenda and the opportunities for building consensus around sustainable land use. Politicians, entrepreneurs and samples of population of municipalities with different socioeconomic profiles will be interviewed




Coalizão Brasil Clima Floresta Agricultura


PORTFOLIO - Land Use and food systems Period - 12 months Purpose of the grant: To support the most important a network of actors from private sector, civil society and academia on issues related to land use/agriculture, illegal activities, and financing. The project will support organizational development strengthening and political articulation. For 2020, the network will prioritize advocacy actions to stop political initiatives that can lead to deforestation in the Amazon,





2019

CPI - Climate Policy Initiative Brasil


PORTFOLIO - Food and Land Use Period - 6 months Purpose of the grant: This extension aims to secure key wins to strategically position the climate change agenda and Brazil’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) in the current administration. These key wins include protecting measures to combat deforeistation and preserving the integrity of the Forest Code. Under this extension CPI will engage with federal and state goverment officials, legislative committees and decision makers.




AGROICONE


PORTFOLIO - Food and Land Use Amount - R$ 61.128,00 Period - 1 months Purpose of the grant: This is a supplement to an already approved grant, due to the exchange rate variation between the subsidy of the CIFF and the INPUT. The original grant seeks to safeguard the policy structure of the Forest Code and work towards a strong agricultural policy of low carbon.




Coalizão Brasil Clima Floresta Agricultura


PORTFOLIO - Food and Land Use Period - 12 months Purpose of the grant: To promote policies that combine agriculture production and forestry preservation, by increasing the influence of the Brazilian Coalition in the decisions of the executive and legislative branches.




IMAFLORA - Instituto de Manejo e Certificação Florestal e Agrícola (I)


PORTFOLIO - Food and Land Use Amount - R$ 150.000,00 Period - 12 months Purpose of the grant: To map, organize, and analyze data about the Brazilian production of food supplies, with the objective of providing a solid base of knowledge for public and private policies in this area, as well as for individual decisions.




ISA - Instituto Socioambiental


PORTFOLIO - Food and Land Use Period - 4 months Purpose of the grant: To combat and monitor forest fires in three indigenous territories, Terra Indígena Xingu, Terra Indígena Raposa Serra do Sol, and the city of Barcelos, by expanding the capacity of the indigenous fire brigades from Raposa Serra do Sol (RR) and the Barcelos region.




IMAZON - Instituto do Homem e Meio Ambiente da Amazônia (I)


PORTFOLIO - Food and Land Use Amount - R$ 480.000,00 Period - 4 months Purpose of the grant: To combat the appropriation of lands and encourage territorial planning in the Amazon, especially in Pará, which considers the public interest and reduces the risk of deforestation, by supporting a public communication campaign against unlawfulness in the Amazon.




Dantes Editora e Livraria Ltda


PORTFOLIO - Food and Land Use Amount - R$ 20.000,00 Period - 12 months Purpose of the grant: To study cultures that are apparently distant from each other SELVAGEM gathers researchers in candid conversations, open to the public where they put forward their perspectives and knowledge about life. These conversations, skillfully moderated by AILTON KRENAK – a leading indigenous voice and one of the most important Brazilian thinkers – aim to shed light on the connections between knowledge deriving from different sources (indigenous, scientific, artistic, ancestral etc).




PSA/CEAPS - Centro de Estudos Avancados de Promocao Social e Ambiental


PORTFOLIO - Food and Land Use Period - 12 months Purpose of the grant: To prevent and combat the occurrence of forest fires and develop sustainable activities aiming at protecting the forest and renovating target areas that suffered from the fires, in two main areas: the Resex Tapajós-Arapuins and the National Forest of Tapajós.




IMAFLORA - Inst. de Manejo e Certificação Florestal e Agrícola (II)


PORTFOLIO - Food and Land Use Amount - R$ 471.000,00 Period - 4 months Purpose of the grant: To increase institutional capacity of combating and reducing forest fire through information and monitoring, particularly in five Conservation Units at Xingu Environmental Protection Area in State of Para.




IPAM - Inst. de Pesquisa Ambiental da Amazônia


PORTFOLIO - Food and Land Use Amount - R$ 490.000,00 Period - 4 months Purpose of the grant: To increase the protection of indigenous land and undesignated public lands from illegal deforestation and fires and to provide updated information about the level of illegality related to deforestation in the undesignated public forest in the states of Pará and Amazonas.




COIAB - Coord. das Organiz. Indígenas da Amazônia


PORTFOLIO - Food and Land Use Period - 4 months Purpose of the grant: To support and mobilize indigenous brigades and forest guardians against the current wave of forest fires in indigenous lands in Tocantins, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rondônia, Acre and Amazonas. This will be done by expanding capacity of indigenous people to prevent and manage the forest fire aligned with their traditional knowledge, and in cooperation with environmental NGOs.




XAVIER A BARTABURU SERVICOS EDITORIAIS ME


PORTFOLIO - Food and Land Use Period - 4 months Purpose of the grant: To produce journalism focused on environmental risks like deforestation in the Amazon and labor abuses in the supply chains of Brazilian companies and multinationals operating in Brazil.
